The precocious six-year-old who lives at The Plaza Hotel and brings mischief and magic to New York City
Eloise is so lucky as she has so many great friends — meet them all!
Hello, this is me me Eloise. I am six. I am a city child. I live in an enormously luxurious hotel in New York, thank you very much.
My absolute favourite colour is pink, pink, pink.
Here's what I like to do, make things up.
Of course, getting bored is not allowed, so I go to as many parties as I possibly can, they are rawther festive.
Nanny is mostly my companion. She has hair like Albert Einstein who is a genius, and she comes from England where they speak rawther differently.
She always says "Whatever it is, the answer is no" but most of the time she gives in. She is sixty years old and absolutely my best friend.
She wears 9 hairpins and has a great deal of patience, which is a very good thing if you live with me.
This is Weenie my dog. He is absolutely a dog though most people think he is a cat. He has very long fur and a curly tail.
He sleeps under the table and on top of the table and quite often under the bed. He absolutely adores it when I put bows on him.
Weenie is mostly always there, which is what I like in a dog.
Skipperdee is my turtle. He is most awfully shy but I love him anyway. He wears sneakers because his feet are quite often cold.
He eats raisins and likes to sit very still on his rock. I take him for walks, but he prefers to be carried.
If you talk to him very nicely he will sometimes come out of his shell, which is rawther polite of him.
The Plaza is the grandest hotel in all of New York City — Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, thank you very much. It is where Eloise lives, on the very tippy-top floor.
It has 800 rooms and a Palm Court and a ballroom and miles and miles of corridors absolutely perfect for skibbling. The doormen are most awfully nice and so are the bellboys.
When you are six and you live at The Plaza, every single day is an adventure.
